Phase 1 Orthodontic Treatment
Phase 1 orthodontic treatment focuses on guiding jaw growth and creating space for incoming permanent teeth in young children. Typically treatment begins around the ages of 7 to 10, when both baby and adult teeth are present. The goal isn’t to complete the final smile, but to correct developing problems early so they do not become more serious or difficult to treat later.
Phase 1 treatment may use partial braces, expanders or other appliances, depending on your child’s needs. Early intervention can improve the ways the jaw fits together, reduce crowding, and protect teeth from trauma.
We proudly provide Phase 1 orthodontic treatment in our Overland Park and Lenexa offices, welcoming patients from Shawnee, Leawood, Olathe, De Soto, Johnson County, and the greater Kansas City area.
